Do not exercise vigorously until the doctor gives the all-clear. For the best recuperation, get enough sleep and sleep in the correct positions. Watch for symptoms of problems, such as persistent discomfort, infection, or severe swelling.
Day 1: Post-Operative Recovery
The first day of recovery will find the patient still being groggy and drowsy for the majority of the day. This is just because of anesthesia pre-operatively. To add to this, drowsiness is present for up to 2 days. Moreover, because of the compression garment, there isn’t much pain.
The discomfort and pain start once the anesthesia effect has worn off. The patient must go see the doctor for a dressing change. Physicians advise a diet rich in protein, vitamin C and zinc.
Day 2-7: Early Healing Stage
Pain and soreness in the treated area may continue but can be controlled with medication.
Light activities and brief walking are encouraged to help circulate blood. Additionally, patients should continue wearing the compression garment 24/7 and avoid sleeping on their side. Avoid any form of exercise, heavy lifting, or strenuous activities.
Week 2: Gradual Improvement
The patient feels normal two weeks after the procedure. Normal daily activities are permitted, with the exception of demanding tasks requiring a great deal of effort. The patient can now sleep sideways if they so choose.
Week 3-4: Returning to Normal
The surgeon gives the patient the all-clear to resume their regular exercises on the twenty-first day. Wearing the compression garment is no longer necessary. They are also capable of taking regular baths. But keep in mind that chest-tightening activities should still be avoided.
Week 6: Complete Recovery
The individual can start with exercises that will enhance the body’s shape. To add to that, he can sleep in any direction he wants. It’s important to rest, however, if you feel pain or discomfort during the workout—or any strenuous activity, for that matter.
Most patients recover fully within four to six weeks and are able to go about most activities, including exercise.
